I wish to discuss ‘Discipline’, for I truly know what it means to be disciplined by the Lord.
Proverbs 3:11-12 says: “My son do not despise the LORD’s discipline, and do not resent His rebuke, because the LORD disciplines those He loves, as a father the son he delights in. Hebrews tells us to endure hardship as discipline, God is treating us as His children, any child is disciplined. If we are not disciplined, and everyone undergoes it, then we are illegitimate and not true sons and daughters of God.
When I was younger, my dad would mostly yell, but on occasion he would put his hand to my backside. I remember one time when I had gotten drunk and went to school, he tried to discipline me with alcohol. He gave me some vodka to drink, probably thinking I wouldn’t drink again after that; but I thought differently. I almost died. I say this because human discipline comes in many forms; just as God’s discipline comes in many forms, but human discipline can back fire on the one who disciplines.
Rather, God’s discipline is righteous and better than human discipline, for He is trying to keep us pure and away from sin.
