Walk by Faith

2 Corinthians 5:7

“For we walk by Faith, not by sight.”

What does this mean? How can we, in this generation or country, live by Faith? How does one do this? It seems difficult, is it? And, any reassurance this is the right thing? If we want to please God, how should we think to have this attitude of pleasing the Lord? Should we get upset with ourselves if we don’t always live up to this attitude; circumstances beyond our control, i.e.? how do we respond when we notice we have fallen short of our intentions, way of living? Repent, ask for forgiveness and try again. Sometimes a lesson can be learned, God leads.

2 Corinthians 5:6-8

We know we are temples of the Holy Spirit and that we are still in the Temple and not the life after. If we walk by sight, we are not relying on the Spirit to guide us, which is what we need to do.

Here, Paul is saying that he longs to be away from the body to be with the Lord, as he knows this is the final rest of our lives. Yet, we don’t walk by our natural sight, but we let the Spirit guide us, having faith, and why another verse says that the righteous shall live by faith.

Let me give you an example of walking by faith from the Bible. Abraham with Isaac as sacrifice was definitely walking by faith. Abraham did exactly as the LORD had told him, right down to the point of almost killing Isaac. I believe Abraham would have taken Isaac’s life if the angel didn’t appear to him to stop and that it was just a test to prove his faith. When Isaac asked where they would get the lamb, Abraham replied, “The LORD will provide” and this was the truest sense of walking by faith, he didn’t know what was going to happen, but he just let it take its course and he passed the test.

Sometimes it’s not that easy. We get clouded by worry and anxiety, it becomes hard to focus clearly. But I have been trying to focus my mind on things Christ-like. Paul says we have the mind of Christ. We do have this mind, but only if we surrender to Jesus and let our ego deflate. By doing this, we let Him be in control of our lives and ‘walk by faith’. When we let Him be our GPS, our auto-pilot, He guides us to things we never knew, like the verse in Jeremiah 33:3, “Call to me and I will show you hidden things.” But it is only when we seek Him with our whole heart, as in Jeremiah 29:13. When we are whole-hearted, we let Him in; we surrender.

Walking in faith is all about surrender, our faith is such that we become one with Christ and we let Him guide our whole being.

Let me give you an example from my life.

When I was doing spiritual warfare at a work place, I didn’t know what was going to happen, but I walked around the parking lot as if marking territory.

The Lord had shown me a vision of land on fire. I went to the place where they store fire blankets in case a car goes up in flames, and I started throwing the blankets all over the ground. This was a physical action of putting out a spiritual fire that was burning the spiritual land. That night it felt like Iwas possessed by Christ and not a demon. He just took me, I let Him, and I did some strange things. I was being led by the Spirit, walking by faith.

So, then this is really about a life in surrender to Christ. When we surrender to Christ and live Godly lives, we walk by faith.
